I'm Going to Be A Siberian Cat

The sculpting on the cat has been finished. I have learned that it isn't necessary to go crazy making everything as smooth as glass if you are going to cover up that area with longer fur. The face does need to be very smooth because that has much shorter hair (flock). Flock is made by cutting the fiber you are going to use into dust.

Siberian cats are very big. Many males weigh as much as 20 pounds. Kilmouski is a light weight at 17 pounds.

I haven't decided what color he/she is going to be yet. So I will need to paint it again once I have that worked out. Then the sculpt gets sprayed with a sealer before the fur is applied.

I am liking working with the clay better now that I know I don't have to cure the polymer clay every time I bake it. I can bake for a few minutes and then take it out and carve, sand or scrape the clay. This cat was baked several  times before it was cured.

It will probably be next week before I get to finish it.
