Diamonds and Roses Petit Point Cushion

I have been busy stitching another petit point pillow on # 56 silk gauze. It fits very well with the chair and the carpet I think. Much better I'm afraid then the rabbits do.  So they may have to find a different spot to live. I have another one in mind that will work much better. Though I am always happy to hear what you think.

Despite what it may look like, we are having a dark and dreary winters day. So apologies for these photos.

  3. Gorgeous new pillow, but I think the rabbits should stay. They bring out the blues/purples in the carpet and break up the pinks. Gorgeous room.

  7. Hi Catherine! Your petit-point needlework is gorgeous! I Love your rabbit cushion! Don't you have a wing chair in a William Morris blue and gold colored print? (Did I dream that? LOL!)I think your rabbit cushion would look at home on it! Your collection of mini items is so refined, and so true to scale, it is nearly impossible to tell it is mini! It all looks so warm and inviting! And your carpet is just Perfection!!!

    1. Yes, I did make a William Morris wing chair. It was the first chair I ever made and it is my favorite. Sadly it is too busy to use with this carpet.
      Thank you!

  8. These are so beautiful! This new one is a perfect match with the mind blowing carpet. But I think the rabbits add contrast and there is enough blue in the carpet for a great match also.
ps you can't even tell at all that this is not a real room :)

  9. Hello Catherine,

This is a lovely pillow, I like the soft colours a lot, but the more I look at your photos, the more I feel you should keep the rabbit pillow on the other sofa too, as it makes a lovely contrast to the pink, and apart from this, it matches the darker ornaments on the rug.

    Kind regards!

    1. Thank you Nina. I see what you all are saying about the contrast and I agree. Maybe it is just that I do not like that pillows design with the other objects in this grouping.

  10. Bravo Catherine. I love the new cushion and I admire the fine work but it seems to me almost too " tonal " . Blue with rabbit looks more dynamic to me .

    1. OK you all win! ;-) I think I am on another petit point spree. Suddenly I wanted a whole bunch of pillows. I am sure over time I will stitch a lot of them.
Thank you for your kind comment.

  13. I love your new cushion with its delicate colours. It's true that it matches perfectly the colour of the armchair, but I also like the cushion with the rabbits. We can it better because of the contrasting colour. I think you can keep both in the room.

I plan to make several so I can rotate them at some point.

  15. Both lovely and beautiful, the rabbit one is a bit more daring but gives a vibrancy to the setting which the other one lacks. Now I shall eagerly wait for the new pillows :o)

    1. Rosanna, Thank you so much for your sweet comment about my carpet. It's true the new pillow blends in too much with the color of the chairs. I am going to make a bunch of them over time. Thanks again! XXX

  17. You have been busy! The new pillow is very pretty but looks rather insipid against the pink of the chair. The strong colour and pattern of the blue pillow works and can hold its own against the pink chair and the beautiful carpet.

    1. Thant's true Josje. I have a lot more to make though. I'm sure the right one will find it's way to the chair. The rest can live on a bed. ;-)

  18. Oh Catherine, you know that I am an incurable romantic, and with this pillow with roses you have literally conquered me! Let me be clear: I also love the rabbits (God bless William Morris), but pink roses are my weakness ... I am a Pink lady :-D
Impeccable accuracy of your work (at least here) and the room setting. I adore it. If I did not know that it is a miniature, I would think that is your chatting room ;-)
    Love,

  21. To me, it looks as though one of the chairs is claimed by the man of the house, the other by the Lady. I love both. Ech for different reasons. Georgeous work as always Catherine =0)

  27. Hi Catherine! I love both of your cushions, because the rabbits provide contrast; whereas the rose one provides harmony either way they are both Beautiful! :D

  28. Hi Catherine, I think you did a wonderful job on those pillows, very beautiful and so neatly done. I think the rabbit cushion (love that pattern by the way) gives a nice contrast actually, I like that about it on the chair in the scene. It also complements the blue flowers and to me it seems to be just right. It makes it a little bit more interesting than when everything harmonizes. But that's just one (crazy) miniatures opinion :D.
