Moon Flowers

This year I grew moon flower vines all over my brick wall in the east courtyard

I looked out about a half hour ago and there was one open. I unloaded the dishwasher and looked out and three more had opened. Every time I looked away there were two or three more open. I would take another photo but moon flowers only open in the dark. They have the best scent you can imagine. I can smell them as soon as I open the back door. It is nice to look out at night and see a wall of huge white blooms. They are annuals which means I am going to have a huge mess to clean up this fall. It was worth it though. Not much grows successfully in my hot/humid climate .

  3. What a joy to have in the garden - I wonder if I could grow them here too? I grow morning glories which are also members of the same species.

  9. Wow, they are HUGE. I've never seen anything like them before. Are they an Autumn plant or is it lingering over the last bits of Summer?

  10. It is a summer vine and still blooming like mad. The leaves are looking a bit ragged now. Something has been chewing on them. All summer it was beautiful though.

  11. Wow! Amazing blooms! We often get frosts too soon to grow them up here. :( It has already frosted once... but it was a light frost and did not quite kill my morning glory.... finally blooming just last Friday!)

    1. I just got out of the 90's here. So mine are still very happy and blooming their hearts out. Next year I think I will try some morning glories. They are beautiful too. :-)
